Norwegian Dream cruise ship - not where the article says it should be
MS_Norwegian_Dream says this ship is in the port of Piraeus - actually I spotted it in the port of Ermoupolis (Syros) (to be precise, in the Neorion shipyard) since April 2010 (it is still there in July 2010). I'm posting this here because I haven't found a way to post it in the Discussion pages of the article itself, and I don't want to create an account right now - I'm on holiday! The Lobster House Resturant and fish market is on your left as you leave the NJ Garden State Parkway exit 0 and enter Cape May. As you enter the resturant thier is a large "Oyster Schooner" model named the "America". Outside is a full size replica with an "Oyster Bar. The Originl Oyster bar WAS the America, it was towed offshoar an sunk about 2000. ships Mercedita and Katherine J. Ireland
I'm new to Wiki and am a bit confused by how to work it, even after reading the directions and wandering around the site, so bear with me. I'd like to add my interests next to my user name but can't figure it out. I'm techno. challenged! I also don't quite understand how to site my sources. or link back to online webpages.
I am trying to learn as much as I can about the ships my great grandfather Charles Wagner (circa 1855-circa 1895) worked on in hopes of learning more about him. my great grandmother's second husband burned much of the family papers after her death and learning much of anything about my great grandfather is like doing dentistry without anesthesia. learning much about her is almost as difficult.
The Mercedita was the last ship Charles was known to have sailed on.
The Mercedita has a long and important history, yet much of it's history is less than clear. at the Naval Historical Center, a little information is given on the Mercedita's civil service, but most information there and elsewhere online rests heavily on her time in the Civil War.
my interest is more for the time frame of 1893-1896, with hopes of learning more about the time he was injured and is said to have died.
I've contacted both Lloyds and Mystic Seaport, but they haven't been able to help.
the Katherine J. Ireland also created some family stories, as there is a notice in the Boston papers of a court proceeding of charges of abuse by my great grandfather against the master and mate of the K. J. Ireland, and I would like to know more about this case.

True builder credit for Tall Ship Hawaiian chieftain
Please is there any one out there who can help me to ensure that Captain Morgan Davies the Master Boat Builder who built the Hull of the Hawaiian Chieftain entirely before he parted ways with Gaylord Drake Thomas (the owner at Lahina Weldong co.) gets the credit. Mr. Thomas is untruthfully claiming this work as his own and knows that he is. How do we stop him? The present owners of the boat are well aware and have spent much time with Morgan's help learning what only he knows about her. The rest of the world should know whose GREAT work her hull truly is. Any help please, I have edited the page but Mr. Thomas continues to scratch out the truth. Thank you
Over the last couple of years I have worked to include citations and sources for various naval pages that needed them. In the process of much reading and 'hunting and gathering' for reliable and primary sources I have accumulated a large store of reliable sources. After sorting them out I have organized them by subject name and created the Bibliography of early American naval history hoping that it will inspire further interest and help editors write well cited articles. Empire Arquebus
Hi My Father was in the Merchant Navy and sailed on Empire Arquebus as a cadet from 30/12/45 when the boat left Liverpool, on it's return to Leith 3/4/46 and again from Leith the next day returning to Glasgow 4/1/47. His Certificate of discharge was signed in both cases and stamped with 'Grimsby'.
I was a little confused by the dates given in the article HMS Cicero (F170) as they do not tally as the boat was still being sailed under the Donaldson Brothers until January 1947. She must have returned to the US Navy later than the article suggested.
